Grades 3-8

Our Grades 3-8 program at Thrive Academy provides a well-rounded education that combines academic excellence with creative exploration. Students in grades 3-8 attend two full days each week, where they are taught by subject-specialist teachers in math, language arts, science, history, geography, French, and physical education. The schedule on both days is mirrored, ensuring that students receive a consistent, balanced experience across the week. In addition to the core subjects, we place a strong emphasis on creative exploration. We believe that creativity is just as important as academic success, and we provide ample opportunities for students to explore the arts, participate in hands-on projects, and develop their unique skills. Whether through scientific inquiry, historical storytelling, artistic expression, or physical activities, students are encouraged to think outside the box and approach challenges with creativity and innovation.

Our curriculum for grades 3-8-includes the following courses:

  • Mathematical Minds - Foundations of Math and Literacy for Use in the Real World:  Our math program is hands-on, visual, and deeply connected to real-life application. We focus on number sense, problem-solving, critical thinking, and practical math skills using games, manipulatives, and engaging challenges. Whether learning basic operations or diving into early algebraic thinking, students grow their math confidence step by step.

  • The Language Arts Lab - Building Confident Communicators: A hands-on, creative language arts course designed to build strong communication, writing, and literacy skills through real-world projects, public speaking, storytelling, debate, and collaborative activities. Students will grow in confidence as they explore descriptive writing, reading comprehension, and presentation skills in an engaging, interactive environment.

  • Earth Explorers Navigating Our Planet with Curiosity:  In Earth Explorers, students journey across continents, climates, and cultures as they discover the incredible diversity of our world. Through interactive map work, hands-on projects, and curiosity-driven exploration, students learn about landforms, ecosystems, natural resources, and how people live around the globe. From mountain ranges to major cities, Earth Explorers inspires a sense of wonder and a deeper understanding of the planet we call home.

  • The Science Quest - Innovate and Investigate: Curiosity leads the way in our science program! Through experiments, exploration, nature studies, and STEM-based projects, students will discover how the world works. We integrate earth science, life science, physical science, and the scientific method in fun, age-appropriate ways that spark wonder and deepen understanding.

  • The Heritage Hub - Uncovering the Stories That Shape Us: students explore history through storytelling, hands-on projects, and meaningful discussions that connect the past to their lives today. From ancient civilizations to modern movements, we dive into the people, events, and values that have shaped our world. Through timelines, role play, mapwork, and artifact exploration, students develop a deep appreciation for history—not just as facts, but as powerful stories that build character, understanding, and perspective.

  • Vive Le Français: Exploring the French Language through Games and Conversation: our French program at Thrive invites students to discover the joy of learning French in a fun, interactive environment. Through songs, games, stories, and everyday conversation, students build vocabulary and confidence while developing a love for the language.

  • Thrive Athletics - Where Fitness Meets Fun and Skill Builds Confidence: Our Phys-Ed program encourages active living while helping students grow in confidence, coordination, and teamwork. Each term, students learn and perfect a variety of sports—such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, hockey, and more—through fun drills, skill development, and game play.
We emphasize good sportsmanship, perseverance, and healthy habits that support physical and emotional well-being, all while making movement enjoyable and accessible for every student.

Home Learning Days

On the remaining days of the week, students continue their learning at home. Parents are expected to work with their children on assignments and projects, reinforcing the concepts introduced in the classroom. Our primary students will not have much homework but for students grades 3-8, you can expect to spend approximately 1.5 - 2 hours on Thrive homework during home days, leaving lots of time for families to engage in other activities together as well.  Our goal is to foster a collaborative partnership between school and home, enabling students to develop self-discipline and time-management skills while having the support of their families.
